Over the years, young people who learned to ski on Lily Lake with the Gatorland Show Ski Club of North Central Florida went on to great things at Sea World, foreign competitive ski clubs and even the legendary Cypress Gardens before it closed. “A lot of (ski) club members live on Lily,” says Lily Lake resident Nancy Rembert, who with her husband, Thomas, owns United Warehousing and Trucking in Gainesville. “But it’s not just a water-skiing lake.” It’s a neighborhood, residents say of this 135- acre, sand-bottom lake. It’s a place where people know each other, where potluck dinners are held and where children can frolic in and out of the water without fear. “It’s really a great lake for kids,” says Rembert, a mother of two teen daughters. “They can feel very safe here. There’s a sense of security on a small lake. You know the people around you.” When Billie Gerard and her late husband first bought property on Lily in 1968, there were fewer neighbors to know. “We came down on weekends from Jacksonville,” says Gerard, one of a number of retirees who live on Lily Lake. “When we bought our lot, it had a well and a little picnic house. There weren’t that many places back then that had big, nice houses.” Gerard now lives with her grandson in a house that started out on the drawing board at 1,800 square feet and ended up at 3,500 square feet. Still, years of drought have left some docks high and dry. But there’s plenty of water for the ski club to continue its weekend practices. “It’s a pleasant place,” says Sandra Banks, a retired insurance agent who had her own agency in Gainesville for several years and now is active in the ski club. She and her husband, Bill, a semi-retired corporate pilot, discovered Lily Lake about 25 years ago, when some sources spelled the name “Lilly”. Their daughter, JoAna Banks, learned to ski on Lily and then turned pro. She worked at Sea World and toured much of the world with professional teams, including one stint as the only American on a Canadian ski team. “It’s built up a lot more today,” Banks says. “For a while, we didn’t have any neighbors. Now we do, and everybody knows everybody.” Gerard says Lily is more than a lake and more than a neighborhood. “When you come back here,” she says, “it’s like you’re in another world.”

A: We are located 15 miles outside of Gainesville, Florida Q: Do you offer long term stays? A: Absolutely! In the two and half years we have had our rental listed we have had many long term guests stay. We do offer a discount for booking 28 days or more AND we offer discounts for booking 7 days or more. Q: Is it comfortable? A: For a camper, it is quite comfy. The king size 10-inch memory bed is sure to give you a good night's rest. The bunkbeds, well they are bunkbeds but we do have memory foam under the beds to give extra cushion or you can stack the bunk mattresses to make it comfier. The dinette has a large memory foam under the master which is just as comfy as the memory foam bed in the master. Q: Any grocery stores nearby? A: There is a Family Dollar about 10 minutes away for quick needs, especially if you forget your marshmallows. There is a Hitchcock's Market, Harvey's Supermarket, Ward's Supermarket, Williamson's Food Store, and a Walmart within 15-25 minutes of the lake. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: There are several mom & pa places to dine close by or you can head into Gainesville which is 20 minute drive for a wide assortment of places to dine from fast food to sit down restaurants. Q: Can we take to boat out & drive it? A: We have our own experienced driver for the ski boat rental, however, there is John boat we will be offering guests to take out on their own and a Pontoon boat coming soon. Q: Can I check-in earlier than 3 pm OR check out later than 11 am? A: We will do our best. Most days there is someone else checking in the same day there is someone else checking out but we try to go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: What to expect that is different than a hotel or house? A: It is a camper. it is a unique FUN experience. Campers are not insulated it is imperative to keep the front sliding glass door closed as much as possible if you want to stay cool inside. Furniture is as comfy as a camper can be. Toilets, well they are camper toilets that you have to fill with a pedal and drain after using the bathroom. Sometimes the toilets can omit an odor from the dump tank. If so, in the medicine cabinets we provide toilet pods where you fill the toilet, drop the pod in and then flush. Camper toilets DO NOT have the same plumbing as a house. There is propane used for the stove and heat so be careful NOT to hit the knobs on the stove so the camper does not fill with propane. There is a Carbon Monoxide alarm in the camper should one of the knobs get turn accidentally which will send off a loud alarm to exit the camper and allow it to clear out. We take great care of our camper but we expect guests to tell us if anything is not working properly and we will PROMPTLY respond and will try to repair it in a timely manner. Q: Do you allow pets? A: Absolutely! There is a $50 non-refundable pet fee to ensure the extra cleaning of pets between guests to be sure any guest who has allergies does not have any issues. PLEASE ADVISE OF PETS WHEN BOOKING. We ask that dogs not be puppies, don't scratch at the doors or be left alone for a long period of time - unless crated. We do have ducks and neighborhood dogs that run around so we ask that you do not allow your pet to chase our ducks and be attentive in case a neighborhood dog stops by to say hello. They are all friendly. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: Yes, but we must know in advance how many people and what type of party since we have neighbors we want to respect. Also, if you have guests visit that want to stay the night, we ask that you let us know since we charge for more than 4 guests booking. There are no camping tents allowed on the property unless you ask in advance. Q: Parking? A: We have signs up for designated parking. If you have more than 3-4 vehicles that will be on the property, please let us know so we can advise them where to park so it does not block the boat ramp area. Q: Can we bring our boat? A: Yes! We have a private boat ramp on our property for guests to use. Q: Can we rent paddleboards, kayaks, paddleboat, ski boat, John boat or Canoe? A: Yes! Rental access to four paddleboards and/or kayaks: $25 per person, per day or contact us to ask about our package deals. Paddleboat rental as available. John boat with life vests & orrs or Canoe with life vests & paddles $50 for a day. Payment can be made via the website or PayPal only. We also have a Paddleboat rental. Lifevests are provided. Rental & liability waiver will need to be signed before renting. Rent a Ski boat & tube with our experienced driver - message us for details.

The porch has plenty of room to eat or to sit on a rocker and enjoy the lake view. Property has newly installed central heat and air make this a perfect vacation place year round. Wide lawn brings you down to lovely Kingsley Lake, which has a white sand bottom. The family friendly dock has room for adults to chat, read, and sun bathe while the children swim and play on the beach. Kingsley Lake is one of the cleanest, most beautiful lakes in Florida, with lots of fish! There are 2 kayaks available for use, and nothing beats an early morning jaunt around the lake when the birds are chirping and everything else is quiet. The property is just outside Starke, FL, and about 45 min from Jacksonville shopping, culture and sports, including the Jaguars (football) and Armada (soccer), and 45 min +/- to Gainesville / Florida Gators stadium. Only 1/2 of the lake is occupied as the other 1/2 is home to Camp Blanding, a military base. Kingsley Lake is quiet and peaceful and a fabulous place to refresh from busy lives. This is the place where our returning families build beautiful memories, year after year; we've seen toddlers grow up to young men and women and then bring their own families to this idyllic spot of paradise. ** We are Dock #141** There are several full time residents on the property who you may run into on the dock from time to time during your stay, particularly in the evenings or on the weekends. The MAXIMUM number of guests permitted is 9 (including daytime guests, if any). We can permit 1 extra person at a nominal additional rate, but cannot accommodate more than 10 guests. If the size of your party is larger than 10, regrettably, this will not be an appropriate property for your vacation and we encourage you to seek another property on the Lake. The property is made available as a restful respite for families and loved ones, and is not offered as a "party house" or for extremely large gatherings. ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE 10 GUEST MAXIUM WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT. We ask that you be respectful of this lovely old home and its limitations, and book only if you wish to use it for its intended purpose as a place for a wonderful old fashioned family vacation. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: There is NO PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH on Kingsley Lake at this time. Military and other authorized users may contact Camp Blanding who generally allows military and ex-military to use their boat launch (if the boat launch is open). You may not launch a boat or jet skis from the property -- so, it is important to note that unless you have permission to use Camp Blanding's launch, you will not be able to use boats or other motorized watercraft during your stay. Finally, LINENS ARE NOT INCLUDED, so please review the bed sizes carefully to ensure you bring what you need for the bed and whatever towels you feel you will need. We generally rent by the week in the summer, and check in time is at 12 noon on Saturday, and check out time is at 12:00 on Friday, unless other arrangements are made in writing. On rentals that do not go from Saturday to Friday, check in and check out is still 12 noon. Of course, we will make every effort to accommodate your needs as to timing, subject to the house manager's availability and the needs of other guests. Further information will be prior to check-in.
